3. Installed Software

3.1 Matlab

Brief Description: Matlab is a matrix programming language, frequently used in engineering. The newest version of matlab (which we have installed) improves support for multidimensional arrays.

Availability: Matlab is licensed on ALL the Linux machines. There is a 10 user license. Which means up to 10 matlab sessions can be going on at the same time.

Where the binaries and configuration files are located: /usr/matlab/

To run the program: matlab

How to get online help: Type "helpwin" to get a help window, "helpdesk" to connect your browser to matlab help, "demo" for a demo. The company website is at http://Mathworks.com,

Any additional comments or information: Manuals and so forth are available at the Statlab (?) The unix version is very close to the windows version, but the manual may note some differences.

3.2 Mathematica

Brief Description: Mathematica is ??

Availability: Mathematica is licensed on ALL the Linux machines. There is a 25 user license. Which means up to 25 mathematica sessions can be going on at the same time.

Where the binaries and configuration files are located: /usr/mathematica/

To run the program: mathematica

How to get online help: Click on help. Additional help is available at http://www.wolfram.com/
